Oklahoma's 34-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe was one of the most impressive openers in the 15 years since Bob Stoops took over the programs. Ryan Aber ranks the 15 openers:
1. Oklahoma 34, Louisiana-Monroe 0 (2013)
The defense held strong while Trevor Knight got settled in, and the run game came up huge as the Sooners picked up their third opening-game shutout in the Stoops era.
2. Oklahoma 49, Indiana State 0 (1999)
The only thing keeping this from No. 1 was four turnovers, but it quickly became apparent things were going to be different under Stoops in his debut.
3. Oklahoma 41, North Carolina 27 (2001)
It took less than four minutes to build a 17-0 lead, then the Sooners cruised from there.
4. Oklahoma 37, Tulsa 0 (2002)
Another instance of the defense holding strong through a slow offensive start before things open up later. OU led just 3-0 at half but blew the game open with the help of Quentin Griffin's 237 rushing yards.
5. Oklahoma 79, North Texas 10 (2007)
Sam Bradford (363 passing yards and three touchdowns) and DeMarco Murray (87 rushing yards and five touchdowns) had big debuts as the Sooners scored their most points in a game since 1980.
6. Oklahoma 57, Chattanooga 2 (2008)
The blowout was even worse than indicated by the score, as the Sooners led 50-0 at halftime, including a touchdown pass by backup Joey Halzle.
7. Oklahoma 55, UTEP 14 (2000)
