Ranking Oklahoma's nonconference trips since 1999.

1. Notre Dame (2013, 1999)

The Golden Dome and Touchdown Jesus, the Victory March and the blue-grey sky. Notre Dame is the pinnacle of college football and the Sooners go back Saturday for the second time in Bob Stoops' tenure.

2. Alabama (2003)

Notre Dame might be the pinnacle of college football in total but Alabama isn't far behind and the Crimson Tide are the current royalty in the sport.

3. UCLA (2005)

The Bruins are no slouch as an opponent but playing UCLA is about much more than the team. The Rose Bowl opened more than 90 years ago, nearly a decade before Notre Dame Stadium.

4. Florida State (2011)

Osceola, the burning spear and the tomahawk chop aren't quite as entrenched in college football lore as the echos at Notre Dame and Alabama's Rammerjammer Yellow Hammer, but Doak Campbell Stadium is still hallowed ground in the sport.

5. Oregon (2006)

The outcome--the Ducks won with the help of a flat-out bad replay decision in the closing minutes--overshadows everything but Oregon's Donald Duck mascot and two-toned turf make Eugene unique.

6. Washington (2008)

Husky Stadium's pre-game atmosphere is certainly different from any other the Sooners have visited, as a large number of fans tailgate on boats on Lake Washington. The stadium also features a view of nearby Mount Rainier.

7. Air Force (2001)

Another picturesque venue, Falcon Stadium and the Air Force Academy campus sit at the base of the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains. The most distinguishing part of the campus, the AFA's Cadet Chapel, is a few miles down the road.
