Defensive tackle Justin Manning is a little bit closer to making his decision but isn't expected to make a commitment until after his team's season is over.
Manning (6-foot-2, 275 pounds) has long had the Sooners near the top of his list. His brother, DeMarcus Granger, played for the Sooners from 2006-2009.
The Sooners did make his final three, joining Texas A&M and TCU.
Manning's Dallas Kimball team beat Dallas Adams 38-13 to advance in Texas' Class 4A Division I playoffs.
Kimball will play Frisco Centennial on Friday.
MASTROGIOVANNI SHOWS OFF ON OFFENSE
Sooners linebacker commitment Jordan Mastrogiovanni of Dallas Jesuit has mostly stuck with defense during his senior year.
Friday night, though, against McKinney Boyd, Mastrogiovanni showed off on offense.
Mastrogiovanni scored a pair of receiving touchdowns in a 45-10 Jesuit win.
Mastrogiovanni took a visit recently to Texas A&M but remains committed to the Sooners. He's expected to be in Norman for Saturday's Bedlam game if Jesuit's playoff draw doesn't prevent that.
TAYLOR HAS ANOTHER MONSTER GAME
Once again, Tulsa East Central's Stanvon Taylor came up big.
The Cardinals have played in several close games this season but have remained undefeated on the field — they had to forfeit four wins — and Taylor has made a habit of coming up with huge plays in those tight games.
Friday night, he did it once again, catching a pair of touchdown passes and coming up with big plays on offense as East Central beat Guthrie 20-13 in the Class 5A playoffs.
“I remember at the basketball state tournament when they walked around and showed their football rings,” Taylor told the Tulsa World. “I had that gut feeling inside we had to get back at them.”
He did Friday night.
Taylor caught an 89-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter, then a 14-yard score later in the quarter.
FORD SCORES THREE TIMES
Keith Ford (5-11, 195), a running back who has committed to OU, scored three times in Cypress (Texas) Ranch's 42-36 win over Aldine Nimitz on Saturday afternoon.
The win was Cypress Ranch's first playoff victory.
Ford scored on runs of 10 and 1 yards and caught a 67-yard touchdown pass to help Ranch advance.
