Oklahoma football recruiting: OU to hold junior day Jan. 12

The Sooners are still working to finalize their 2013 class but the coaching staff will take some time to focus on the 2014 class in early January.


Oklahoma will hold its first junior day of the year Jan. 12, a weekend that will also feature some 2013 visitors.

The expected visitors include Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen and Tulsa Memorial tight end Mike'Quan Deane. Also expected are a trio of Texas players that already hold an offer from the Sooners: Houston Cypress Falls outside linebacker Otaro Alaka, Mount Pleasant wide receiver KD Cannon and Brenham cornerback Darrion Johnson

Taylor ready for All-American game

Tulsa East Central defensive back Stanvon Taylor is in Houston this week preparing for the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.

The game will be played at 7 p.m. Sunday at Reliant Stadium and will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet.

Taylor is one of two state players on the roster.

The other is Vian offensive lineman Rob Boyd, who has committed to Tulsa.

Sooner commitments Keith Ford and wide receiver target Laquon Treadwell will travel this week to St. Petersburg, Fla., to play in the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4 at Tropicana Field.

Russell ranked in Juco 100

Recent Sooner signee Quincy Russell, a defensive tackle, is the highest ranked OU commitment/signee in the recently released Rivals Juco 100.

Russell (6-foot-3, 311 pounds) comes in at No. 21.
