The once-great OU vs. Nebraska series took its first big hit with the Big 12 Conference's split into North and South Divisions; the rivals were only scheduled to meet in two out of every four seasons.
The Sooners and Cornhuskers have played 86 times, with Oklahoma holding a 45-38-3 series advantage. The last time they played was in the 2010 Big 12 Championship game, which the Sooners won 23-20.
Today, Nebraska is nearing the end of its second Big 10 Conference season.
“Playing marquee non-conference opponents remains an integral part of our scheduling philosophy,” Castiglione said. “Games like Oklahoma-Nebraska embody all the qualities that make regular season Saturdays in college football matter to so many.”
