Oklahoma football: Sooner fans want their team to beat Mack Brown, but they'd be unhappy to see him go

Saturday's Red River Rivalry game between Oklahoma and Texas might be Mack Brown's last stand. Many Sooners fans, though, are a bit unhappy at the possibility that the former OU assistant appears to be on his way out.

“I'll be a little sad to see him go,” Brett Nungesser of Cache said. “It was a staple — Mack against Bob (Stoops). I'll miss it.”

The other side of that is the fear of the unknown if Brown is fired or steps down following this season.

“It's a little terrifying as an OU fan, who Texas might be able to bring in,” Nungesser said.

There's one name that Nungesser rules out, though.

“I give zero chance to Nick Saban,” he said. “I think that's just goofy. Texas has the money but I can't see Saban leaving Alabama to come to Texas.”

Baylor coach Art Briles or Denver defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio are realistic choices, Nungesser said.

“I don't think they're going to get Art Briles,” Hutchens said. “But if somehow Texas does get him, I'll be very worried as an OU fan.”
