Before he worked for the Big 12 Conference and before he became the main player on Oklahoma's first integrated high school football team, Gautt attended Page Woodson Elementary.
In October, Gautt will be recognized by The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools as one of four inductees on its Wall of Fame, an award that honors people with deep ties to the city school district and celebrates the “long, rich history of the Oklahoma City Public Schools.”
The three other 2012 honorees are Timothy D. DeGiust, Joyce Henderson and Thom Shanker.
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED NAMES OU PLAYERS ALL-AMERICAN
Sports Illustrated's college football editorial team released its 2012 preseason All-American teams on Tuesday. Five teams and 11 players were selected from the Big 12. No player from Oklahoma was named to the first team, but two were on the second team: junior center Gabe Ikard and junior safety Tony Jefferson. Only one player from the Big 12 made the first team, Oklahoma State kicker Quinn Sharp.
IRISH UPDATE
It's a while before Oklahoma and Notre Dame play, Oct. 27 in Norman, but the Irish have a quarterback derby. Everett Golson and Andrew Hendrix are apparently neck-in-neck in the Notre Dame race. Previous starter Tommy Reese was suspended after he tried to flee an off-campus party in May. Notre Dame needed a front runner for its opener vs. Navy in Dublin, Ireland.
