Defensive end Charles Tapper recorded six tackles and teamed with Jordan Phillips for a sack in Oklahoma's 51-20 win over Tulsa on Saturday.

Through three games this season, Tapper has made 14 tackles.

After OU's win Saturday, the sophomore from Baltimore spoke to reporters.

Q: How did you feel about the defense's overall performance?

A: I think we could've came out with a better effort toward the second half than the first half. We came out really slow the first half. The second half, we picked it up a little bit, but we started decreasing as the game went on.

After three games, how important will this bye week be as you prepare for the trip to Notre Dame?

It's gonna be a very important week, just getting our technique down, getting our plays down, making sure we're running the right things. Being more physical, getting our bodies ready for the game coming up.

Where do you guys still need to improve?

We still have to work on our technique, just coming out being more physical. That's the main two right there. Other than that, we're pretty good, we're pretty solid.”
