Oklahoma football: Sooners' fullback Trey Millard putting off NFL Draft, coming back for senior season

Millard had four carries for 28 yards and caught one pass in the loss.

Receiver Kenny Stills, safety Tony Jefferson and cornerback Aaron Colvin are among other players who could leave early.

SHEAD BANGED UP

Sooners left guard Adam Shead left the Cotton Bowl in the second quarter after aggravating an injury that he suffered late in the season.

Shead returned to start the second half but left again late in the third quarter. He returned again in the fourth.

Shead's departure, on the final OU drive of the first half, forced center Gabe Ikard to shift to guard and freshman Ty Darlington moved in at center.

The Sooners got good protection on the drive, though, as Landry Jones engineered a 13-play touchdown drive that was capped by a 6-yard touchdown pass to Justin Brown.

It wasn't the first time the Sooners had to deploy that shift this season.

In the regular-season finale against TCU, Shead also left with injury.

“It wasn't a big deal tonight,” Ikard said. “I knew my assignments well. We just didn't execute well enough in the third quarter.”

SOONERS NEED DEFENSIVE REINFORCEMENTS

After a promising start for the defense in their first season under Mike Stoops, OU struggled on defense to end the season.

Oklahoma gave up 34 or more points for the fourth time in five games to end the season and 41 or more points for the third time in four games.

Stoops said the personnel must get better on that side of the ball.

“They're a hard matchup for teams that don't have extraordinary personnel on defense,” Stoops said of A&M. “We got exposed today.”
