NORMAN — Oklahoma’s strong June recruiting push continued Thursday when the Sooners picked up a commitment from guard Dominique Hearne.
Hearne (6-foot-3, 288 pounds) announced his commitment on Twitter. The three-star prospect is the third commitment in the last nine days for the Sooners. All three are from Texas.
Hearne is from Lancaster, Texas. The school is already well-represented on OU’s roster, with alums Quentin Hayes and Dakota Austin playing for the Sooners.
While Hearne didn’t go through drills during the Sooners’ camp over the weekend, he came to Norman to get a feel for the coaches and players.
He is the seventh commitment for the 2015 class for the Sooners. After losing a pair of commits early in the spring and adding only kicker Austin Seibert since March, OU’s recruiting momentum, built in the aftermath of a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama, seemed to have faded away.
But the Sooners have picked up steam recently, first with the addition of cornerback P.J. Mbanasor on June 3 and continuing over the weekend when Rivals100 running back Rodney Anderson committed following a visit for the camp.
Hearne’s commitment is non-binding. He can sign beginning Feb. 4.
