Even so, co-defensive coordinator Mike Stoops has used three-linebacker units some through the Sooners' first two games, even starting the season opener at UTEP that way.

Should fans expect Saturday to see more of linebacker Joseph Ibiloye and less of Gabe Lynn, the starter at nickel, because of Kansas State's run-heavy offense?

“That's predicated again on how many tight ends and fullbacks and running backs are in the game,” Stoops said. “Chances are greatly improved we would use more three-linebacker defense, more than we have these first couple games.”

OKIE WILDCATS

Two former Oklahoma high school stars — and current Kansas State Wildcats — who never received OU offers return to the state next weekend fresh off huge performances.

Former Tulsa Washington standout Tyler Lockett returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown Saturday in the Wildcats' 35-21 win over North Texas. The sophomore's three career kick-return scores are good for second all-time at K-State, and he's two away from tying the school record.
