NORMAN — Oklahoma senior defensive tackle Stacy McGee was arrested early Monday morning on complaint of driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.

His status for the Cotton Bowl Classic remains unclear; OU's athletic department released a brief statement, reading, “University of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops indicated that he is aware of the situation regarding defensive lineman Stacy McGee and will address the matter after all pertinent information is available.”

An OU source with knowledge of the situation, though, said McGee's DUI arrest means his “career is over.”

McGee missed this season's first six games while serving a suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He returned for the Sooners' 30-13 loss to Notre Dame on Oct. 27, and has played in every game since, recording 14 total tackles and one sack.

Shortly after McGee's preseason suspension was announced, Casey Walker, another senior defensive tackle, said, “It's like when you're a kid and your mom tells you not to touch the stove, and you do it anyway and got burned.”

McGee was also suspended for the 2011 season opener after being cited for marijuana possession months earlier. McGee went on to appear in the remaining 12 games of his junior year, recording 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
