Plenty of playing time is available for Oklahoma wideouts next season, with 2012 leading receivers Kenny Stills and Justin Brown gone.

Several Sooner wide receivers got opportunities in Saturday's spring game. Sophomore Trey Metoyer led the team with six catches and 122 yards.

Another sophomore, Durron Neal, saw some playing time last season and appears in line for a much bigger role in 2013. He only caught two passes in the spring game, but they were big.

On the first, he ran a fade route and came down with an impressive 41-yard grab off a pass from Blake Bell. A few plays later, Bell found Neal for a 3-yard touchdown.

Neal spoke with reporters after the spring game about the battle for playing time, changes in the OU offense and the Sooners' quarterback derby.

Q: Is the competition for playing time helping all the receivers get better?

A: Oh yes. All of us, we push each other every day going against the secondary. We all know that we need to count on each other this season. A lot of people are doubting us, with Stills and Brown leaving. A lot of questions going into our receiving corps, how strong and how competitive we're gonna be. That's what we're gonna try to do, is lean on one another and just make plays for the team.
