TOP STORYLINES

* STOOPS VS. THE SEC: OU coach Bob Stoops made headlines when he questioned the SEC's overall strength last summer. He has a chance to make a statement against the conference's prominent power.

* WHO PLAYS QUARTERBACK FOR OU? No one will really know whether Blake Bell or Trevor Knight will start the Sugar Bowl at quarterback for Oklahoma. Each have had their moments this season, and each have had their rough stretches.

* ARE THE SOONERS VASTLY OVERMATCHED?: In Alabama, the Sooners face the program that has won three of the last four national championships. Nick Saban has built the Crimson Tide into the nation's premier college football program, while OU's status as a national power has slipped in recent years. Las Vegas oddsmakers list Bama as more than a two-touchdown favorite.
