Oklahoma football: Tony Jefferson, Kenny Stills leaning toward NFL Draft

ESPN.com reported Sunday, citing a source, that both juniors had already decided to enter the draft.

Sources close to the program indicated Sunday that Jefferson and Stills were leaning toward forgoing their final seasons of college eligibility, but that no official decision had been made.

One NFL scout told The Oklahoman before the Cotton Bowl that neither Jefferson nor Stills was ready for the NFL, and that both were likely to be fourth- or fifth-round selections.

ESPN ranks Jefferson (5-feet-11, 212 pounds) as the fifth-best safety — and 82nd-ranked overall prospect — available in the 2013 draft class; Stills (6-1, 190) is the 14th-ranked receiver and 73rd overall player, according to the same rankings.

Defensive back Cortez Johnson, who sat out the 2012 season after transferring from Arizona, tweeted Saturday that he'd miss several teammates headed to the next level, and included Jefferson and Stills in the post.

When another Twitter user asked Johnson if that meant the duo was gone, he responded, “yeah they leaving.”

Jefferson and Stills are active Twitter users, too, and neither has indicated their plans on the social networking site.

Jefferson tweeted Saturday: “Smh guys I promise I will let you guys know when I decide. But as of now. I'm nowhere near deciding ..”

Jefferson led the Sooners in tackles with 119 and intercepted two passes. He played most of the year with a high-ankle sprain suffered in Oklahoma's second game of the season, a 69-13 rout of FCS foe Florida A&M.
