Oklahoma football: Trevor Knight, Michael Onuoha return to practice

by Ryan Aber and Jason Kersey Published: September 24, 2013

Quarterback Trevor Knight and defensive end Michael Onuoha are now fully participating in practice, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops confirmed.

Knight, a redshirt freshman, started the Sooners' first two games of the season, wins over Louisiana-Monroe and West Virginia. But junior Blake Bell replaced Knight in the fourth quarter of the second game after a knee injury and some inconsistent passing.

Knight rushed for 145 yards on 20 carries, while completing 21 of 48 pass attempts for 205 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Onuoha, a sophomore from Edmond Santa Fe, played sparingly as a true freshman in 2012 and missed fall camp and the first few weeks of this season while recovering from shoulder surgery.

STOOPS: EACH NOTRE DAME GAME ITS ‘OWN OPPORTUNITY'

Stoops said he doesn't spend much time thinking about Oklahoma's historic struggles with Notre Dame.

“I've only been a part of a couple of them and they don't have any weight on what happens in this one,” Stoops said.

The Sooners are 1-9 all time against the Irish. Under Stoops, OU has lost twice to Notre Dame — 34-30 in South Bend, Ind., in 1999 and 30-13 last season in Norman.

Oklahoma makes another trip to South Bend on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
