Oklahoma football: Two players with something to prove Saturday against Louisiana Tech

NORMAN — Here is the second of three pregame blogs from Ryan Aber and I.

Here, we each pick one Oklahoma player who has something to prove Saturday against Louisiana Tech.

ABER: Jordan Phillips, NG
Phillips was on the verge of a monster year last season before a progressive injury ended his season after the win at Notre Dame. Phillips has potential to be a game-changer in the middle of the defensive front but early in the season, there will be some questions about his his surgically repaired back will hold up.

KERSEY: Keith Ford, RB
I’ve said for months that I believed Keith Ford would be the Sooners’ starting running back — at least at the beginning of the season. Although Bob Stoops hasn’t named a starter yet, I still believe Ford will be the guy getting the bulk of today’s carries. There are several questions about Oklahoma’s inexperience in its offensive skill positions, but Ford could go a long way toward silencing those doubters with a big game today.
