It’s Sooners vs. Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3 in a matchup of historical college football powerhouses.
The two schools have had their share of great quarterbacks play for them, but what if the Sooners had one more?
What if they had AJ McCarron?
Tuscaloosa News (Ala.) reporter D.C. Reeves (who we’ll be working with closely leading up to the Sugar Bowl) tweeted Tuesday that McCarron was this close to being a Sooner.
AJ McCarron said that the night before he made his college choice, he thought he would be going to Oklahoma to follow Sam Bradford.

What if the three-time national championship winner and 2013 Heisman finalist had picked Norman over Tuscaloosa? How would things have been different for McCarron, Alabama and OU?
Rivals.com had McCarron pegged as the No. 7 pro-style quarterback in the nation coming out of high school in 2009. McCarron committed to Alabama in May of 2008 and OU picked up a committment from Drew Allen in August of that year.
