Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight, on if he expected to compete for the starting job this season when he signed:

“Going into any place, whether it was (Texas) A&M where I committed first, or here, you know you're gonna compete anywhere. It just turned out to be the right year here, I got to compete and got my shot.”

Oklahoma receiver Jalen Saunders, on Knight becoming more comfortable as the game went on:

“I knew he was real comfortable after about the third series. In my opinion, I felt like he had little jitters in the beginning of the game, but he did a great job tonight.”

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, on his unit's performance:

“It worked for one day, and if we can do that 11 straight times, then I would be happy. It's about the window. We certainly got embarrassed last year against West Virginia. I'm glad we got off to a good start. It gives us confidence.”
