Oklahoma football: What they're saying about the Sooners' win over Notre Dame

by Jason Kersey Published: September 28, 2013

* Co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel, on Trevor Knight entering the game: “Coaches say it to the media all the time and they probably roll it off their shoulders as coach speak, but it is really true. A week ago, we talked about Blake not being the starter at the beginning of the season and his opportunity comes and he took advantage of it and seized it. Trevor Knight gets demoted, he stays ready and prepares in a great way and gets called upon in the third quarter and he took advantage of it. It was a big drive answering back after they scored. It was a critical part of the game.”

* Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, on two early-season losses putting BCS hopes in jeopardy: “Don't really care about that stuff. That's for you guys to talk about. I've got a football team here we're trying to develop and work with. You guys can have your own comments and decide what that means and you can put us in whatever bowl you want.”

* Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees, on his two early interceptions: “With the group of guys that we have, it's not too tough to fight back. Obviously, you can't spot a team 14 points like that right off the bat. It's tough to fight back. But I'm proud of the way we did. Obviously, the start hurt us in the long run.”
