NORMAN — Oklahoma freshman defensive end D.J. Ward tweeted that “everything went well” with his Tuesday morning splenectomy.

Sooners coach Bob Stoops announced after Tuesday’s practice that Ward had his spleen removed and that he expected the freshman to miss around six weeks. Stoops said he hadn’t considered yet if Ward would redshirt this season.
Later Tuesday, Ward sent out a string of tweets elaborating on the operation.
