An Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. official told a House subcommittee that the utility company could be forced to enact the largest rate increase in its history by a number of recent rules enacted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

New U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations could force Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. to install more than $1 billion worth of scrubber technology to keep running some of its coal-fired power plants, a company attorney told a House subcommittee on Thursday.
