Local Golf USA franchisee Brad Bowen has finalized his purchase of the all of the bankrupt retailers' North American franchise rights.
Bowen, a former executive for Oklahoma City-based Golf USA, purchased the franchise agreements for 37 Golf USA stores across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Guam for $280,000 in cash and up to $261,809 in gift card liabilities.
Bowen is the managing member of National Franchising Group LLC, which will take over the Golf USA brand in North America from Golf USA Inc. after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year.
The sale was finalized Thursday, Bowen said.
“Our main goal is to strengthen support to the 30 plus Golf USA franchise locations in the U.S.,” he said.
Moving forward, Bowen wants to boost service with Golf USA's franchisees, including improving the brand's point-of-sale system and helping stores with marketing, signage, social media and advertising.
Bowen said he hoped to launch a new website for the brand and wants to begin selling new franchise locations in North America. He also plans to launch a new e-commerce platform at golfusa.com.
