The Oklahoma Health Care Authority announced Thursday it plans to select a new CEO by January.
The authority, which handles Oklahoma's Medicaid program, has selected four candidates it will interview over the coming weeks for its CEO job opening.
“The board is aware of the significance of this decision and is treating this process with the importance it warrants,” authority spokeswoman Jo Kilgore said in a statement released Thursday. “It is a priority of the board to have as easy a transition as possible.”
Mike Fogarty, longtime health care authority CEO, announced in September that he would retire in March.
The agency, which has a budget of about $5.3 billion, received more than 40 applications in response to the opening, according to the agency.
The health care authority's board of directors met Monday to discuss applications and the interview process.
If none of the four candidates are selected to fill the CEO opening, the board will interview additional candidates, name an interim or begin a new search before Fogarty retires.
