NORMAN — An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper shot a man Sunday morning during a scuffle alongside Interstate 35.
About 10:30 a.m., a woman telephoned 911 to report a road rage incident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35, trooper Betsy Randolph said.
A trooper stopped the reported vehicle near the Tecumseh Road exit. During the traffic stop, the driver and the trooper got into a physical altercation on the shoulder of the roadway and then rolled into a ditch, Randolph said.
During the fracas, the trooper shot the driver one time, she said.
The man was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening, Randolph said.
Two other males in the vehicle were arrested, she said.
No names were released Sunday.
The trooper has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
