An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper shot a man who attempted to grab his gun during a traffic stop early Tuesday.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper shot a man who attempted to grab his gun during a traffic stop early Tuesday. 

The trooper stopped a van occupied by two men near 11th Street and Garnett Road about 1 a.m. for an expired Oklahoma license plate tag. 

As the trooper approached the van, the passenger fled the scene on foot, OHP said.
