Oklahoma House approves reduction in income tax rate; lawmaker decries "trap vote"
Despite facing a massive budget shortfall this year, the Oklahoma House on Tuesday approved further reducing the state income tax rate.
The House voted 85-13 to reduce the top individual income tax rate from 5.5 percent to 4 percent beginning in the 2010 tax year. Senate Bill 315 now goes to a conference committee, where legislative leaders will determine how much of a tax cut, if any, the state can afford.
