IN BRIEF

Letter carriers to collect food

Postal workers from 127 cities in central and western Oklahoma will be picking up food donations Saturday in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Letter Carriers’ Food Drive.

To participate in the food drive, people are asked to fill at least one plastic bag with canned food and leave it by their mailbox Saturday for their letter carrier to pick up.

The most needed items include canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and rice and beans, according to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

If the letter carrier does not pick up the donation, participants may drop off their donations at a local post office or an Oklahoma City metro-area fire station until Monday.
