A man who faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his girlfriend and two young girls has a new trial date on one of the counts.

Twenty-six-year-old Kevin Sweat has been ordered to stand trial in Okfuskee County for the July 2011 slaying of 23-year-old Ashley Taylor. He has pleaded not guilty and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case.

His trial was originally set to begin on Oct. 22, but online court records indicate that District Judge Lawrence Parish has re-set the start of his trial for June 10.

Sweat is also accused of fatally shooting 13-year-old Taylor Placker and 11-year-old Skyla Whitaker near Weleetka in 2008. His preliminary hearing in that case is set for Nov. 5 on two counts of first-degree murder.
