TAHLEQUAH — A Park Hill man charged in the 2010 shooting death of his landlord has been sentenced to 25 years to prison.

A local newspaper reports that William Lewis entered an Alford plea on Thursday to first-degree manslaughter — meaning he pleaded guilty while still maintaining his innocence.

Lewis was charged in the death of Robert L. Audd, whose body was found in a wooded area near his home in Teresita. Police say Audd was shot in the head and abdomen.

Cherokee County authorities say Lewis was renting a house from Audd and was about to be evicted.

Lewis also pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, knowingly concealing stolen property, second-degree burglary and possession of firearms after conviction of a felony.
