DUNCAN — An ex-Marine convicted of sexually abusing a child has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Stephens County District Court Judge Joe Enos followed a jury's recommendation when he sentenced Charles Dyer on Tuesday. Dyer was convicted in April of raping and molesting a 6-year-old girl.

It was his third trial on the charges. Dyer's first trial ended in a hung jury and his second trial was declared a mistrial after a clerical error compromised the jury pool.

Dyer was arrested in Texas last year and returned to Oklahoma after failing to appear for the scheduled start of his trial.
