Oklahoma man sues over online hotel prices
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma man has filed an antitrust lawsuit against several travel websites, accusing the companies of conspiring to fix prices on hotel rooms.
Nathan Walker of Guthrie filed the federal lawsuit against several travel sites, including Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline and Hotels.com. Walker claims in his lawsuit that he paid an artificially inflated price for a hotel room at Chicago's Palmer House Hilton.
Walker used Priceline to book the room.
His attorney, William Federman, tells the Journal Record that the companies are colluding to agree on minimum prices for rooms.
At least two other similar suits have been filed nationwide. A statement from Orbitz called the litigation “a copycat lawsuit” that has no merit.
