For the first game this season, Oklahoma's student section packed four sections for the game against Texas.
Before the game, the students held up newspapers during the Longhorn's lineup.
Students also held up signs saying, “You're my boy, Krug,” “I hate Orange,” “This is OUr house” and “C'est notre maison,” which means “This is our house” in French. The sign is in reference to Oklahoma forward Amath M'Baye's dunk against Texas Tech.
After the dunk, M'Baye exclaimed “This is our house. This is our house.”
In the last two minutes of the game, with Oklahoma leading by 10, the section started chanting, “Just like football.”
BIG MONDAY WHITE OUT
Oklahoma fans walked into a stadium that's normally red, but on Big Monday, Lloyd Noble Center had a white shirt on every chair.
The 12,000 white shirts had “Cheer like a champion — Oklahoma basketball” written across the front.
Fans who didn't wear the shirt were shown on the video screen with the words “Put it on!” They remained on the camera until they put the shirt on and then the video board showed “Thank you!”
In the first half, Oklahoma and Texas combined for 21 turnovers.
Texas started the game with nine straight turnovers, including at least two turnovers from four of their starters. By halftime, the teams combined for only 14 points off turnovers.
Both teams played a cleaner second half. Texas only committed two turnovers, while Oklahoma tacked on five.
Freshman forward Isaiah Cousins started off the season as a starter and moved to a reserve, but on Monday night he had a big contribution to the Sooners in minutes.
Cousins played minutes 17 minutes. Four of the five starters played more than 30 minutes. Senior guard Steven Pledger played the fewest amount among starters with 16.
Cousins had three rebounds, one assist and one block.
