Auditions set for musical

A musical based on the life of one of the most influential women in Cherokee history will be presented in August when the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa hosts “Nanyehi — Beloved Woman of the Cherokee.” “Nanyehi” is the story of Nancy Ward, who was first honored in the 18th century as a Cherokee war woman, then as a peacemaker during the American Revolution. Auditions will be held at the Fly Loft from 10 to 11:30 a.m. May 3 for children ages 4 to 15 and 1 to 5 p.m for adults. Auditions will resume 1 to 5 p.m May 4. The Fly Loft is at 117 N Boston Ave. The auditions will consist of readings from the script and a song of the singer's choice. Singers should bring their own accompanist, or can sing a cappella. A keyboard and CD player will be provided. Principals will receive stipends ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the role. Nonpaying cast roles also are available.
