Youth rodeo

begins Sunday

Young rodeo enthusiasts will gather in Shawnee beginning Sunday as the International Finals Youth Rodeo gets underway. The rodeo will be at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center, 1700 W Independence, through July 12. Events include barrel racing, goat roping, team roping, bull riding and bareback riding. There also will be a Western trade show. At least 1,000 competitors are expected. For more information on tickets and a complete schedule, call 275-7020.



NEO to host

art academy

Oklahoma City artist Annalisa Campbell will be on staff during the “An Affair of the Arts” youth summer art academy July 15 to 19 on the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College campus. The art academy is hosted by the NEO Development Foundation and the Miami Arts and Humanities Council. Funding is provided by a grant through the Sarkeys Foundation. Space still is available for students in the ninth through 12th grade. Campbell works and teaches at her studio and gallery in the Paseo Arts District, Brayer and Brush. She is the Paseo artist liaison with Edgemere Elementary and teaches at Mission Academy, an alternative high school that integrates the arts into education.
