Mom may face abuse trial

A Garvin County woman with a history of mental health problems should stand trial in connection with an accusation that she stabbed her 8-year-old son, court officials said Friday. Adah Renee Wise, 28, of Stratford, appeared in district court for a preliminary hearing on a felony child abuse charge. She is accused of using a kitchen knife Aug. 24 to stab her son, according to a probable cause affidavit. The boy suffered a stab wound that lacerated his liver, the affidavit states. Wise told authorities she had not been taking her medication and had not slept for a couple of days. Wise is free on $2,000 bail.
