1984 champs’

reunion set

The 14th annual Picher-Cardin Reunion will celebrate an important milestone in the town’s history — the 30th anniversary of the 1984 state championship football team. The reunion will be from 2 to 6 p.m. June 14 at the Student Activity Center on the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College campus. Football players, coaches, managers, cheerleaders, and band members will be recognized from the 1984 state team. The reunion is open to former Picher-Cardin students, residents, and friends. Oklahoma City

Students can enroll early

Oklahoma City Public Schools is offering district-wide enrollment Wednesday for the 2014-2015 school year. Teachers, counselors and building administrators will be at each school to enroll new students and re-enroll returning students during regular school hours. All students, including returning students, must enroll before the start of school on Aug. 4. Updated parent contact information, current student vaccination records and completed home language surveys also are required for enrollment. Wednesday, schools will have enrollment packets for parents as well as school supply lists, dress code requirements and other information. Students will not be allowed to attend school until an immunization record is presented with proof of the pertussis booster. All students entering the seventh grade will need proof of a pertussis booster. For more information, visit the parents and students page of or contact the school.




College plans summer slate

Through July 24, Western Oklahoma State College is on extended summer work hours. The college work day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The college is closed on Fridays for energy conservation purposes. The regular schedule will resume July 28.
