PONCA CITY

Husband, wife identified

Police have identified two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Ponca City. Officers told the Ponca City News that Ivonne Widle, 23, was found with a gunshot wound at a residence, and her husband, Rex Widle, 30, was discovered in a pickup near his in-laws' home. Police say they received two 911 calls about 7:20 a.m. Friday. One caller reported that a man had shot himself, and another requested a welfare check on an employee who hadn't come to work. Ivonne Widle was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Pearl Harbor lecture set

University of Central Oklahoma history professor James Baker will present a free lecture Thursday about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the beginning of World War II in the Pacific for the United States. The lecture is at 7 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center. Baker will discuss missed clues leading up to the surprise attack, various historical interpretations of the event and conspiracy theories.
