Senior fair is Wednesday

The Salvation Army's Senior Program will host its second Senior Living Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The free event at Citadel Senior Center, 2808 SE 44, will feature live music and activities, free food, door prizes, and a variety of presenters from across central Oklahoma. The Senior Living Fair is designed specifically for people age 55 and older. “It's amazing the variety of activities and services seniors have available, many of which they may not know exist. It goes far beyond exercise classes and medical care. There are plenty of exciting, enriching opportunities out there for active seniors,” Lisa Sydnor, program manager, said in a news release. Topics at the fair will include continuing education programs, recreational opportunities, transportation options, home health providers and housing providers. For more information, call 246-1120.

Facility set for reuse

The former Greenway hazardous waste facility officially will be proclaimed Ready for Reuse during a presentation at 9 a.m. Monday at Wagoner County Courthouse. The property in Stone Bluff was the site of a hazardous waste treatment, storage and recycling facility from 1978 to June 2000. After operations ceased, unsecured hazardous waste remained, creating a potential danger to human health and the environment, officials said. The state Department of Environmental Quality and the federal Environmental Protection Agency removed the hazardous wastes and remediated the facility through the EPA's Ready for Reuse program.
