Kelly Tran, founder of an Oklahoma-based mobile app business called Appable, developed it for the nonprofit organization.

“We work with several startup organizations in the state to build new technologies, and part of what we do at Appable is giving back to the community,” the 26-year-old CEO said, explaining why Appable took on development of 1040i's app at no charge.

“I think they're doing amazing work,” Tran said, adding that her team members who worked on it felt the same way. “They felt very touched by the work the organization is doing.”

The 1040i app, available both on the iTunes and Google Play app stores, is Appable's first nonprofit effort, but Tran said she'd like to see an entire category in the app stores designated to nonprofits.

“We'll have to continue to work toward that,” Tran said.
