NORMAN — Sophomore center Ty Darlington, who is getting first-team reps while senior Gabe Ikard recovers from a broken hand, said the offensive line still isn’t where it needs to be.

“I wouldn’t say we’re playing well up front yet,” Darlington said. “We’ve had one or two good practices. We’ve got to be more consistent running the ball.

“We’ve been focusing more on running the ball, putting more emphasis on it.”

Last season, the offensive line was coached by both James Patton and Bruce Kittle. This year, new assistant Bill Bedenbaugh is managing the entire group.

“I loved Coach Patton,” Darlington said. “I loved what we were doing with him. I think Coach Bedenbaugh brings in a lot of great things, with his mentality and attitude he has. It’s going to take us to the next level as an offensive line.”
