Cowboys sweep pair from Nebraska
The Oklahoma State baseball team swept a doubleheader against Nebraska on the second day of the TD Ameritrade Classic in Omaha, Neb.
OSU needed 10 innings to win the opener 5-3, then shut out the Cornhuskers 4-0 in the nightcap.
With the sweep, OSU improved to 31-11 on the season.
“Today was a very good day of baseball for us,” OSU coach Josh Holliday said. “The first game was a big win — we battled back and got a couple of clutch hits and grabbed the momentum. That led into game two, where we got a great effort from Tyler Nurdin on the mound.”
Nurdin, a sophomore left-hander, picked up his first career win by tossing a four-hit shutout in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Cowboys rallied from a 3-2 deficit in the eighth inning when Robbie Rea's two-out single brought home Tanner Krietemeier to tie the score. Randy McCurry drove in Donnie Walton with the winning run in the 10th.
The Cowboys face Creighton at 5:05 p.m. Sunday in Omaha.
