Oklahoma Pet Tales: Dog found after family prays
My daughter and her family own three Shar-pei dogs: a mother, its son and a girl. The three dogs had never been past the front door, only in the backyard or in the house.
Last summer, my son-in-law opened the front door, and Sake, the girl, shot out the door and bolted down the cul-de-sac to the open street and was quickly out of sight. My son-in-law ran to get the car to try to catch her, but she was gone. For days, my family and I strolled the streets in Nichols Hills and beyond. We called and whistled but got no response. My daughter and her family went out of town for several days, and I continued the search. One evening, I had dinner with friends and told them what we were doing. One said, "Don’t you know the St. Anthony prayer? He is the saint for lost items.” I said no, so she led us in the prayer: "St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please come around. Something is lost and can’t be found.” She added, "Then you turn loose of this lost item and know it will be found.
