Oklahoma physicians to address reform bid
Many medical doctors support health care reform and want to educate citizens about proposed plans, said Dr. Kathy Scheirman, who is co-hosting a forum Thursday on behalf of the group Doctors for America.
The retired U.S. Air Force physician said she and co-host Dr. Boyd Shook will answer questions about reform proposals and what the debate means to Oklahomans. Doctors for America aims to clear up misinformation about reform goals, including a public option for health care coverage, she said. "A public option is one way to create competition,” she said. "The insurance companies have a monopoly right now.” The health care forum is planned for 7 p.m. at the Downtown Library, 300 Park Ave. For more on Doctors for America, go to www.drsforamerica.org.
