NORMAN — Junior-college linebacker Devante Bond committed to Oklahoma on Monday evening, becoming the Sooners’ 18th commitment for the recruiting class of 2014, according to multiple reports

News of Bond’s commitment was first reported by OUInsider.com.

Bond, a three-star prospect from Sierra Community College in Roseville, Calif., chose the Sooners over Nebraska.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker visited Oklahoma in early October for the Sooners’ home win over TCU. He joins Curtis Bolton and Tay Evans as 2014 OU linebacker commits.

Bolton, from Murrieta, Calif., committed Aug. 25, and Evans, from Allen, Texas, committed July 2.

Verbal commitments are non-binding, and incoming freshmen aren’t allowed to sign until early February. Junior-college transfers can sign in December.
