NORMAN — Coming off a lackluster performance in last week's opener, No. 10 Oklahoma sure looked like a national title contender Saturday.

Thanks to near-perfect quarterback play and championship-caliber defense, the Sooners whipped No. 17 Florida State 47-17 at Owen Field to keep the nation's longest home winning streak alive at 32 games.

Jones led the Sooner scoring barrage, completing 30 of 40 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game early in the fourth quarter.

Jones also outplayed Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder, who some viewed as a Heisman candidate before Saturday.

Ponder led the Seminoles to a touchdown on their first drive. But after that, OU's defense held Florida State to just over 200 yards of total offense the rest of the game.
