Marriage conference set at church
Oklahoma City area couples are invited to attend a marriage conference featuring marriage expert Gary Smalley Friday and April 12 at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N May. Gary Smalley is a family counselor, president and founder of the Smalley Relationship Center and author of books on family relationships from a Christian perspective. Conference fee is $40 per couple. Couples can register by going to the church’s website at QSBC.org and clicking on the marriage conference icon on the home page. Event featuring spirituals is planned
NORMAN — The Cimarron Opera Company’s Festival of Spirituals will be at 6 p.m. April 13 at First Presbyterian Church of Norman, 555 S University Blvd.
The festival will feature traditional black spirituals that are a uniquely American art form.
The voices of Northern Oklahoma College choir under the direction of Brandon Haynes and the First Presbyterian Church Youth Choir directed by Susie Jones will be featured along with vocalists from surrounding universities and communities.
The Festival of Spirituals is an original program of the Cimarron Opera Company. The free festival is the opera company’s gift to the community. Donations are accepted.

Church offers music workshop
The Music and Fine Arts Ministry of Fifth Street Baptist Church will host its annual Easter Week Workshop April 15-17 at 801 NE 5.
The workshop will include several classes for participants. Free dinner will be offered at 5:30 p.m. each day, followed by the workshop. Guest clinician for the workshop choir is Nikki Ross of Houston. She has appeared on several projects with gospel artists and is noted for her solo on the Ricky Dillard song “There Is No Way.” The workshop concert will be at 9 p.m. April 18 and feature musical guests Sean Johnson and Montrae Tisdale-Johnson and Friends Chorale.
