Gospel quartet sets concert

— The Melody Boys Quartet will bring gospel music to Town & Country Christian Church at 6 p.m. Sunday at 2200 S Cornwell Drive.

The concert is part of the quartet's “Exit 63” tour and features bass singer Gerald Williams. The group announced plans to retire on New Year's Eve 2012.

Church will offer Spanish Mass

St. James the Greater Catholic Church will introduce its new Spanish Mass at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at 4201 S McKinley.

Many Spanish-speaking families live within the parish's boundaries and are participating in parish life. The Spanish Mass to be offered each Sunday will help complete the church's pastoral services to such families and individuals.

Festival celebrates global community

The 16th annual Festival of the Americas, a multicultural food festival, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W Hefner Road.

The event will include music, dance, singing and entertainment representing several cultures. Musician Edgar Cruz will be a special guest performer at 3 p.m. Admission and entertainment is free. Food from different cultures will be sold at various booths. Organizers said some food will be home cooked by parishioners and some provided by Oklahoma City restaurants.

Free pony rides and other activities for children also are planned.

Money raised from the sale of food and beverages will go toward the church's outreach services.

Churches offer fitness classes

Several metro-area churches will offer new Body & Soul Fitness activities in the coming weeks.

Body & Soul, “where faith and fitness meet,” is an international nonprofit fitness organization led by national fitness leader Jeannie Blocher.

United Methodist Church of the Servant will offer new Dance Blast classes beginning Sept. 11 at 14343 N MacArthur. The newest cardio and toning workout class for women will be from 10:35 to 11:35 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Certified instructors lead the workout, providing options for beginners.
