The evening at the Oklahoma Republican watch party was filled with applause and cheers when it was announced the state's congressional delegation would be entirely Republican.

But the outcome of the presidential election was the elephant in the room as partygoers mingled and talked the outcome of the state's races.

One party member called the state “the reddest of the red,” after news that all seven of Oklahoma's electoral votes would go to Mitt Romney.

Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, took the stage at the Oklahoma City Marriott with cheers after his race was called at nearly 60 percent of the vote.

“Were trying to carry a message about what we believe as Oklahomans,” he said, telling the crowd he knew they were the opinion leaders in their communities.

U.S. Rep Tom Cole, R-Moore, who also won re-election Tuesday evening, said patience would pay off for Republicans.

“It's going to be a long night tonight, but I like the way it's shaping up,” he said.

“We're going to wake up tomorrow and have a Republican Congress and a new president.”

“Settle down,” Cole said. “We have a long way and it's going to take a while.”

News that the state's Legislature would also likely gain more Republicans drew cheers as well.

Rep. T.W. Shannon, R-Lawton, speaker-designate of the state House of Representatives, encouraged the crowd as they patiently waited for presidential race results to come in.

“Oklahoma has without question rejected the liberal Obama agenda,” he said.

“We need to make sure we continue to spread the message that Republican majorities equal prosperity.”
