AD Franch made four saves in the second half Sunday to help No. 7-ranked Oklahoma State defeat Fresno State 2-0 at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex in Stillwater. The All-American made five total saves en route to a fourth shutout this season and 36th of a stellar college career.
“(Franch) saved us,” OSU coach Colin Carmichael said. “That game could easily have been 2-1, 2-2 and even more of a dogfight towards the end if it wasn't for three or four big saves. That's why she's there.”
Carson Michalowski and Megan Marchesano had goals in the first half. But Fresno State, despite an 0-6-3 record, continued to battle in the second half. The Bulldogs outshot OSU 13-4 in the final 45 minutes, including a couple attempts that required diving saves by Franch. Fresno State appeared to score in the 49th minute, but that was scratched on an offsides call.
OSU (9-1-0) will open the Big 12 portion of its schedule Friday at Kansas.
